The High School Leadership and Resiliency Program helps
older adolescents grow into responsible, productive adults. Weekly small-group
discussions and one-on-one availability of the program coordinator gives
students a place to talk about and work through obstacles and challenges.
Through outside adventure activities and community service projects,
students gain skills that help them work with adults, manage conflict,
say no to negative influences, and learn to set goals for their future.
One of the most popular activities is an innovative horsemanship program
in conjunction with Pegasus
Farm, a non-profit organization that provides
therapeutic horseriding experiences. Learning to bond with, care for
and ultimately perform technical riding maneuvers on these impressive
animals gives students confidence and insight into abilities they may
not have recognized before.
